Kahu (55/365)
Kahu is The Year of the Written Word, Beth's, beautiful pup and she has a knack for balancing things on her head!
Ralph and Kahu became fast friends; good thing Kahu doesn't have a taste for fish!
They did, at one point in the evening, have a staring contest...guess who won?

Organize! (53/365)
Yesterday Congress voted to defund Planned Parenthood, zeroing out the amount of funding the clinics receive from Title X.
What does this mean? It means that Congress has voted to strip monies that allow many of these clinics to provide low-cost HIV tests, cancer screenings, birth control, prenatal care, and other lifesaving services. Some clinics may be forced to close, resulting in the thousands upon thousands of women (and men) who receive care going without.
However, there is still a chance that this funding won't be zeroed out and that chance is the U.S. Senate.
So, what can you do? You can STAND WITH PLANNED PARENTHOOD and fill out the online letter that will be sent directly to your Senator, asking him/her to stop this legislation. (Link: STAND WITH PLANNED PARENTHOOD) [NOTE: Over 50,000 people had completed this online letter only one hour after the legislation passed in Congress, which speaks volumes]. You can also call, email or write your Senator directly, as well as contact your Congressperson to either thank or spank him/her on yesterday's vote.
Ralph and I STAND WITH PLANNED PARENTHOOD, do you?

Swiper the Fox (52/365)
I am so disappointed in this picture, but it is 11:45pm and I no longer have access to Swiper, so I'm posting it! It was taken tonight at the 365 artist's meet-up at Mekong. Such a lovely evening, with such lovely people! It was great to visit with old friends, finally meet with some others in "real life," and to meet some altogether new folks. I hope everyone else had as much fun as me.
This picture is a collaboration with Jess Lucia of the blog, "Play by Play," one of my favorite 365 projects. I was SO EXCITED to actually meet Swiper the Fox, who plays a large role in her project, much like Ralph does in mine. Thanks, Jess, for sharing Swiper with me; I apologize for the picture not doing him justice!

I took today and tomorrow off to enjoy the nice weather, which allowed me to hit the gym early. Ralph is showing his approval by resting in my workout shoes...

Kelly's hands (47/365)
I am tired and haven't really been feeling too creative. I keep thinking, I have over 300 (THREE HUNDRED!!!) more pictures to take of this fish. Ugh! So, while I regroup and motivate myself, enjoy a picture that was taken at the last 365 Richmond Artists gathering.

Persian Fish (43/365)
Today, during breaks, I must review my Persian (Farsi), as my friend, Ali's, parents are visiting from Iran and I am having dinner with them tonight. Ralph is going to help me study...

King Scone Fish (42/365)
It is nearing Carnival and Mardi Gras time and, as such, comes the tradition of King Cake. In King Cake tradition, there is an item, typically a small baby figurine, baked into the cake. The person who "finds" the figurine is crowned king/queen of the day (and has to bring the cake to the next week's celebration).
I didn't have a King Cake, but did make Ralph the baked in figurine of my (horrendous) first attempt at blackberry scones. The scones might have tasted horrible, but isn't Ralph a cutie?
I may not be in New Orleans, but who says I can't celebrate, eh?

Fish out of Water (37/365)
For today's project, I made two adult and four baby origami goldfish out of standard printer paper, painted them and even applied "roly-poly" eyes. I'm quite proud of my crafty accomplishments! However, when it came to picturing the little family of fish, I did not factor in the wind that was blowing through Richmond today. As a result, one of the adult fish became a casualty - he blew into Fountain Lake...
After the loss of the one fish, I was more careful as I lined up the rest of the family for their photo shoot. However, I have to admit, I cheated a bit and put a thumbtack in the back end of each one in order to help keep them under control. If you look closely, you can see the little, lost fish floating in the water behind the group in these shots...
And, not to be left out, Fountain Lake's ducks were very curious about the new addition to the pond...

Yoda (36/365)
I don't like any of the Star Wars movies, yet I love Yoda and he is a fixture in my car. Why in my car, you ask? Well, because I drive everyday and his presence reminds me to stay calm, take a deep breath and remain centered. Or, at least, that is what I hoped he would do when I affixed him to my dash.
"Size matters not, ... Look at me. Judge me by size, do you?"
(Yoda)
